KEEN on the Postpile?
This should be a no-brainer, but:
I AM IN LOVE WITH PEOPLE FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT!
Welllll… KEEN footwear and The Devil’s Postpile National Monument do just that! I thought it would be a match made in heaven, July 1st this year ‘23 when visiting Mammoth… my KEENs and a visit to show my husband the magnificent awe-inspiring formation of Devil’s Postpile. But, more about that later.
For now, let’s talk about these two:
The Devil’s Postpile National Monument is located a few hours south of my home of Lake Tahoe in Mammoth, CA. It is the result of fire and ice…an eruption and uniform cooling of basalt that formed these mind-blowing columns.
Sacred geometry shows up in nature, within ourselves and is threaded throughout our living world. The hexagon pattern that results from this heating and cooling of basalt is one of these spectacular examples.
The formation is a rare sight in the geologic world and ranks as one of the world's finest examples of columnar basalt. Its columns tower up to 60 feet displaying the hexagonal symmetry.

This is where it gets good:
In 1910, district engineer Walter Huber received an order to blast portions of the Postpile formation for materials to build a dam. He fought to convince Forest Service officials and President William Taft to join Sierra Club members John Muir, Joseph LeConte, and William Colby in supporting the establishment of a national monument under the American Antiquities Act of 1906 that would prevent further disruption in the area.
KEEN footwear is also fighting the good fight.
Ok, enough history for now but almost 100 years later, KEEN footwear has done exactly the same! Maybe not the exact same, but a very nice piece of the puzzle to preserving our beautiful earth, nonetheless.
KEEN began in 2003, and they were determined to do things differently. They wanted to bring people together, look out for each other, and take care of our planet. That's why they are in business and they casually add: We just happen to make really good shoes.
“We believe we can go further and have more fun together. That we are one human race, and winning that race means working together. From the products we create to the events we host, we like making things that have never existed before.” ~Gotta love-> KEEN

They are proud to say that their fans count on them to help keep them safe and comfortable, and they will not let them down. A few examples of their beliefs:
● Do The Right Thing. They believe in being there for others in their time of need. That talk is cheap. They are action-takers.
● Create With Conscience. They're changing the way shoes are made to reduce our impact on the planet.

Every KEEN boot, sandal, and sneaker you buy has a positive effect, funding organizations to protect the planet and making the outdoors more accessible to everyone.
For me, KEEN hiking boots have been the absolute tops not just because of their environmental and social consciousness but also there for me to summit:
● Mt. Tallac, Lake Tahoe
● Freel Peak, Lake Tahoe
● Half Dome, Yosemite
● Inca Trail, Peru (4 day trek)
● Amongst many others…
Although, Devil’s Postpile was not in the cards for Clint and myself in JULY mind you… The reason is a good one: They are STILL clearing the road after record snowfall this winter, to even arrive at the trailhead. KEEN::: Are snowshoes in your future?
Because, we are down.

If you are at all a kindred spirit in love with fighting the good fight… and just can’t quite express all these feelings and energies in word format… if you are in need of assistance with brand-messaging, & need help letting your individuality shine… Let’s have a chat?
On the call, we will look at what’s working and what’s not working. We will discuss the best course of action so you can move forward with ease and comfort (you know, basically the copywriting equivalent to wearing your very own KEEN hiking boots at the Devil’s Postpile National Monument.) And then… if there’s a possibility to work together then we will make some time to chat about that as well.
Fact check: I strive for accuracy and fairness… if something is off, please send a shout! Kp@kpcopy.com
