Choice is yours…
We are more alike than we are different.

With the (obvious—ohhh stereotypes, lol) dreadlocks, shaved heads, multi- colored dye jobs, the “normies,” shirts off, shirts on, flannels, bathing suits, jeans, flip flops, tennis shoes, clouds of smoke from flower, and vape, were all present at the Lake Tahoe Reggaefest.
Isn’t this what drives us all to these beautifully orchestrated events, with our diverse community of choice, enjoying a common love of a certain type of music?
Formerly Squaw Valley, the Palisades hosted a two day festival July 22-23rd boasting such bands as Stick Figure, Rebelution, Pepper and Tribal Seeds, amongst many talented others.
The midsummer sun, inland from Lake Tahoe was a little brutal…but..as we all know… the power of music moves us and has a very special hold on each and every one of us.
Reggae seems to do something also transcendental… maybe it’s the plumes of smoke, but I know it is just a tad bit extra. Freedom, expression, the energy of a crowd of people…
I took the energy for granted… <sigh> Did you?
Covid really showed me that I took this for granted. Not making a practice of taking anything for granted, I was disappointed in myself for having done this.
I know I am not the only one.
It’s what we all missed during the pandemic: it’s what makes cities so enticing, nightclubs attractive, and concerts… it’s the ENERGY.
The soul of what makes a crowd… and naturally, I mean, guys, it’s me: I got to thinking about the soles of how everyone is handling this long hot day on their feet.
Everyone wears shoes! (Ok, ok. Most everyone…)
Just as everything changes, it also stays the same. I look around, and pretty much every shoe is Vans or Nike or Adidas. The footwear of my youth—for skaters, mods, jocks, dreadlocks, normies, punks, soccer players or all of the above.
Unified in sound and unified in footwear… Bringing everyone together from their SOLES up!

Soul-led copywriting helps get your message out there and expresses your brand like musicians with their music.
So, if you are at all vibing on what I am putting out right now… and need someone to voice all these feelings and energies in word format… assist with brand-messaging, helping your individuality shine, while maintaining the integrity of the crowd, let’s have a chat.
On the call, we will look at what’s working and what’s not working. We will discuss the best course of action so you can move forward with ease and comfort (you know, basically the copywriting equivalent to wearing your very own Vans at a festival.) And then… if there’s a possibility to work together then we will make some time to chat about that as well.
As Scott Woodruff from Stick Figure sings on his song “Choice is Yours:”
“When you focus on the good things, all things under the sun.
You free yourself from negativity & the good shall come.
The choice is yours, when you are ready.”
