So you think you suck…
Imposter Syndrome: You Tricky Gremlin
So you think you suck?
Kidding, Kidding. {I hope everyone thinks this is as funny as I do…}
It’s quite the contrary!
Doubt plagues even the most gifted of minds. Of course there is the “I suck, and I can’t do this” and I am forever going to be stuck where I am.
What was I even thinking trying this?
Self doubt: You tricky gremlin
This is so comical, because logic dictates otherwise. However, none of this is logical! We have all experienced this and the deep dark gremlin of the soul that likes to rear its ugly head; Oftentimes appearing as we have almost lost hope but (funny enough) right before the breakthrough we had been waiting for.
Imposter syndrome is not one sided though… It also swings the other way where I’m having all this success: I don't deserve this! This cracks open the egg of our personal journey and takes a deep dive into our own psyche. Truly valuing ourselves and our abilities, our unique mindset and our confidence.

Our (very real) dream house
You can’t start building a house until the trenches are dug, and the electrical and plumbing is in place & only then you can pour the foundation… And that is only the beginning! So much of a house is planned and strategized before you even start thinking of support beams or walls or windows.
Having our business in alignment with our core values makes it not necessarily easy, but smoother. Ever heard the saying, It’s much easier to remember the truth than a lie? (It’s not down and dirty as that… or is it?)
When we take a deep dive into the layers that make up our unique selves, our work will always come from our core beliefs and will be ethically aligned with who we are. That the walls, windows and trim we are building will all come together and be a lovely home. A home to create this new pathway of owning our own business, going for that promotion or switching career paths.
Will we doubt ourselves? Yes.
Will we question that we have done everything we could? Of course.
The infrastructure we are building within will only help the core belief that we are doing the right thing and are in the right place.
ohhh CONFIDENCE
This will only cultivate the confidence it takes to thrive in our own business and to put our craft out into the limelight. The confidence to share with others and invite them over to our beautifully crafted home.

Speaking about confidence…
There is a brilliant skiing analogy: little kids who are 5 or 6 years old, they know a couple of things: how to turn, how to stop. It appears like they have a load of confidence.
Although I think it is the lack of awareness. If they fall, they are low to the ground, their parents tend to their equipment and their bones are much softer and they bounce back quickly.
With Experience comes Wisdom (on or off the slopes)
As we get older and are on the “slopes”, we know the different types of snow, we know how to identify icy patches, we may have had minor (or major eek!) injuries & we know if we are overdue for a tune on our equipment…
We are more AWARE. Therefore we are more aware of putting all our resources into the building of this house. Maybe we have started picking out colors, or curtains and we need to rewind and revisit the quality of that rebar or the quality of concrete we are using.
Good news though: As our foundation grows, our confidence increases exponentially with every “brick.”

As we ski down the mountain, we make the turns on the icy patches with (or without) grace on the mountain, and have learned from minor or major mistakes or injuries, and have made sure our equipment is strong and properly tuned. Our awareness grows, and our confidence can’t help but blossom from these experiences.
Disrobe of Negative Nancy
I don’t know about you, but turning 48 today, I’m the most confident I’ve been in all of my years. I’ve shrugged off the tattered and worn out garment of “what people think” and “Is ‘so & so’ going to get mad”…
AND have earned the “if you don’t like it, that’s your problem” and the ever-sassy “I don’t remember asking for your opinion” sparkly bedazzled ski coat of middle age.
What we are doing is scary. I get it. Trust me. Although, I don’t want to misdiagnose or mislabel or throw blame at the very root or foundation of this process: CONFIDENCE.
Not blindly, of course. But, because we know we went through all the proper steps or plans or standing on our heads correctly and thoroughly. This negative Nancy talk is certainly not needed in my world any longer~ hopefully yours too.
It’s having a more realistic finger on the pulse of awareness.
Within coaching classes, master classes and with the proper guidance, we are building one of the most bitchin’ houses we could ever imagine creating!
My only HOPE for you and I, is that we experience the other side of this imposter syndrome where we are in disbelief of our success!
ok she might be 12… but you get the picture… lol
Let’s experience the other swing of Imposter Syndrome…
We accept it with the grace and experience of our years and know we went through all the proper steps of building the infrastructure for this to not just be a dream, but a reality. We are able to show our perfectly crafted (insert your name here) home…errr…business, with confidence to the world…
And of course, Rock the house!
In our sparkly bedazzled coat of course. ;)
. . .
So, if you are anything like me, and having a buddy in whatever form or fashion that may mean, makes this situation a little less… dire? And more supportive to stave off those nasty gremlins of doubt?
AND… you are also an aspiring entrepreneur or currently have your own business… AND… you have fun enjoying the glorious feeling your product or service provides and want to share with the world in your “sparkly bedazzled coat of confidence” (of course.)
I WAY get it.
Maybe wanting to garner more depth and making a difference with your product? Maybe we could shake up your brand story and get more eyeballs on your product?
So, maybe let’s have a chat then?
On the call, we will look at what’s working and what’s not working. We will discuss the best course of action so you can move forward with ease and comfort (kinda like skiing down the black diamonds at your favorite resort.)
And then… if there’s a possibility to work together then we will make some time to chat about that as well…
